What does a scaffold cost?

When modernizing the façade, installing new windows or working on the roof, the craftsman can not do without a scaffolding equipment. The cost of delivering and erecting the scaffolding will be included in the price of the construction work. Various factors play a role here.

Cost factors in scaffolding
The cost of a scaffold is mainly calculated by size and lifetime. Furthermore, there are costs for delivery, assembly and dismantling as well as for technical acceptance. On average, a stand scaffold with a price of 6 to 9 euros per m² is to be expected for a scaffold , the service life is significant, but has only a relatively small effect on the price. As a rule, a basic price for the expected service life is scheduled, and additional service days or weeks cost a corresponding surcharge. Additional factors include weather protection or clothing, scaffolding with scaffolding stairs are more expensive than scaffolding with internal scaffolding ladders.

Cost differences depending on season and region
The scaffolding costs vary in part strongly. So scaffolding in rural areas are often cheaper than in large cities. But the season also plays a role: in summer, the scaffolders are heavily used, the demand increases and thus often the price. Those who secure an appointment in good time can benefit from advantages and also prevent longer waiting times, which in turn lead to delays in the construction schedule and thus possibly to higher construction costs.

The scaffolding as a cost-effective alternative
If only minor work is required or a scaffold for in-house services is required, the scaffolding can be a cost-effective and flexible alternative.

These scaffolds also have rules that the user must follow:
  • The user is responsible for compliance with safety and fall protection regulations.
  • For safe handling, the guidelines and regulations for scaffolding must be complied with.
  • The user must ensure that the scaffold is properly installed in accordance with the assembly instructions and that all warnings and safety instructions are followed.

Often it is not taken into account that a scaffolding in front of the facade not only makes it easier for the craftsmen, but also any burglars. You can easily get to the windows via the scaffolding. For this reason, scaffolding erected in inhabited houses should always be reported to household contents insurance. This in turn can lead to an increase in the insurance premium for the life of the scaffolding and thus to additional costs.
